About SpinKonfig
Who is behind the project
SpinKonfig is built by a group of practicing anglers. We fish with spinning tackle all year round and know first-hand how much time it takes to put together a rod, reel, line and lures that actually work together.
The project's technical director is Alexander, an angler with 30 years of experience on waters across Russia and abroad. He is responsible for the compatibility rules and the quality of the recommendations.
What SpinKonfig is
An independent spinning tackle configurator. An AI suggests real rod, reel and line models for your target fish, technique and budget, and a rule-based checker scores the compatibility of every setup.
You get three ready-made setups — for different budgets — with prices and links to stores where each item can be purchased.
Why you can trust it
- Rule-based checks: rod casting weight against lure weight, reel size matched to rod class, line strength matched to fish and technique.
- No hidden sales or advertising: we do not promote specific brands or stores and show options independently.
- Explainable scoring: every setup shows a breakdown across 9 parameters, so you can see exactly where points were gained or lost.
- Open guide data: the tackle setups of well-known anglers are compiled from public sources with references to the originals.
How the setup score works
The Compatibility Score is built from 9 independent parameters: rod, lures, reel, line, fishing technique, setup balance, match to the target fish, fishing conditions and budget.
If a setup breaks a hard rule — for example, the lure weight falls far outside the rod's casting weight — the final score is capped at 45 points, even if everything else looks good.
Every score comes with a plain-language explanation: what is well matched in the setup and what is worth changing.
